Players on both teams are matched based on the highest-tier plane they have selected for the battle. During a match, planes from ±1 tier relative to the highest-tier aircraft may appear, regardless of their upgrade level.
If there are more players with a wider variety of tiers, the matchmaking spread may be slightly broader.
It is also possible to select only tier-one planes and never face opponents flying planes higher than tier two.
Planes are now also divided by rarity (Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary), which affects their overall power and performance in battle. While matchmaking is primarily based on tier, rarity plays an important role in how strong a plane is within that tier.
In addition, a plane’s strength can be influenced by other factors, such as Hangar Workshop perks, module upgrades, and power-ups used during the battle.
